Ifugao- DRRMC prepares observance of Fire Prevention Month

LAGAWE, Ifugao,Feb 22 (PIA) -- Governor Eugene Balitang recently convened the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council in preparation for the observance of March as Fire Prevention Month.
Samson Cabbigat, the Research and Planning Officer of the PDRRMO said that the pre-conference seeks plan out and coordinate the conduct of activities for the launching and commemoration of Fire Prevention Month and to incorporate earthquake preparedness projects and activities pursuant to the Regional DRRMC directive.
This March, the beginning of the summer season, has been set as Fire Prevention Month. The theme slogan for this year “Makiisa Makialam at Makipagtulungsn Upang Sunog ay Maiwasan” will be observed appropriately with projects and activities spearheaded by the Bureau of fire Protection in coordination with other concerned agencies, the local government units and the general public.
Cabbigat disclosed that the activities to be undertaken in March will include fire drills, information, education and communication and preparedness and prevention consciousness raising activities.
For this year’s observance and in view of the proximities of a very recent earthquake- induced disasters and calamities, the need for earthquake preparedness assumes urgency hence it is incorporated in the activities on March 1.(JDP/VDB- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
