Electricity reaches sitios in Mt. Province

TADIAN, Mt. Province, Feb. 17 (PIA) -- “Nasilawan ay Ili, Igawis di Umili” (Energized Community for Progress) was the theme of the ceremonial switch on for the electrification of three sitios in the remote barangay Bantey here last February 11.
The electrification of Maket-an has benefited 29 member-consumers, Abongo has 26 and five in Laglag to be added to the more than 27,000 member consumers of the Mountain Province Electric Cooperative, Inc.(MOPRECO).
The ceremonial switch on was graced by the local government unit of this municipality headed by Mayor Anthony Wooden, Norma Budod representing Congressman Maximo Dalog, MOPRECO Board of Directors and the staff headed by General Manager Jude Domoguen.
According to Domoguen, the energization of these sitios is part of the P20 million allotted to Mt. Province by the national government through the National Electrification Administration (NEA) in partnership with the MOPRECO to bring light to unenergized sitios in the province.
President Benigno S. Aquino III has given priority to the Sitio Electrification and Barangay Line Enhancement Programs in compliance to his administration’s social contract with the Filipino people.
For Mt. Province, the MOPRECO has submitted to NEA 81 unenergized sitios and two barangays (which are using solar power) for enhancement.
The sitios of Bantey of this municipality are part of the first batch of sitios which were already energized. Aside from these three, sitios Alipodopod in Bauko, Pangwew and six sitios of Ambagiw, all in Besao municipality, were also energized.
Electrification of Batch 2 composed of 12 sitios namely Gisgisa-an at 102 and Amuyod at Sinto, both in the municipality of Bauko; Ilang at Batayan of this municipality; Katubangan at Palitud, Baba and Licoy at Poblacion and six sitios at Bunot, all in the municipality of Paracelis.
Aside from the sitio electrification program of the national government, the provincial government here has also allotted P1 million which has energized sitios Matiim at Alab Proper of Bontoc, Lower Amolong at Poblacion in Paracelis, and Bansa at Monamon Norte in Bauko.
