Sharing Time: According to His Riches in Glory

Reva Lachica Moore

Awhile back, I read a story about disappearing money and thought of sharing it. Here is the story:

Bill owns a company that manufactures and installs automated car wash systems. Bill's company installed a car wash system in Fredericksburg, VA. This is a complete system that includes the money changer and money taking machines.
The problem started when the new owner complained to Bill that he was losing significant amounts of money from his coin machines each week. He went as far as to accuse Bill's employees of having a key to the boxes and ripping him off. Bill just couldn't believe that his people would do that, so he set up a camera to catch the thief in action. Well, he did catch the thief or thieves on film!

Starlings are often attracted to bright, shiny objects and will collect them for nesting or mate-attraction purposes when the opportunity presents itself. In this story the bird went inside the machine to get the coins! Another amazing thing is that it was not just one bird -- there were several working together. Once they identified the thieves, they found lots of quarters under a nearby tree.

Has the recent global recession affected your everyday life? This story reminds me of what is happening to a lot of people these days. They do not know where their money is going. Jobs had disappeared and dreams of comfortable years of retirement had vanished.

When the economy collapsed in 2008 and 2009, millions of people around the world had certainly felt the impact. The 401K retirement portfolios of many had been hit hard. The once-secure American pension is no longer secure causing workers to work longer and save more.

With pensions vanishing and Social Security in trouble, the American people are faced with frightening challenges when it comes to planning for the future.

Today, you don't have to look far to find cause for worry. Many are troubled about the future and how they will provide for their families. It is normal to become concerned, however, it is so wonderful that we have many Biblical promises that tell us that God will provide for all of our needs today and in the future.

The Bible has many stories about how God provided for His people in all aspects of life, especially in their times of great need. In the story of Abraham's near-sacrifice of Isaac, Isaac was spared at the last moment. Abraham declared his hope and belief that God will provide a sacrifice to use instead of Isaac--and He did! "Abraham answered, 'God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.' And the two of them went on together (Genesis 22:8)."

God provided for Moses and the children of Israel everything - from their daily provisions all the way to their final escape from the Egyptians when the Red Sea parted (Exodus 14).

Through faith, Elijah was fed by ravens during the long years of famine. And the Widow of Zarephath who was going to make her last meal for herself and her son (and then die) lived. I Kings 17: 7 -24.

Luke 12: 27 says, "Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say to you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

In these uncertain times, we have a SURE and CERTAIN HOPE, which can be found only in JESUS CHRIST. Philippians 4:19 says, "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
