Cordillera police plant 8,853 trees

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Feb. 17 (PIA) -- Policemen in the Cordillera region recentlyy planted 8,853 various species of tree seedlings.

According to P/CSupt Benjamin B. Magalong, regional director of Police Regional Office (PRO-COR) the tree planting activity is in compliance to the instructions of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Director General Nicanor Bartolome that for every police to plant six tree seedlings a month for a total of 72 in a year.

"The program with the theme, Pulis Makakalikasan: 10 milyong puno pamana sa kinabukasan,' will run from February this year to February 12, 2013," Magalong said, "and by that time all PNP personnel could have planted a total of 10 million trees all over the Philippines."

 

"We are not only going after illegal loggers or those cutting trees without permit but do also plant tress as part to protect the environment,' Magalong said.

 

Policemen from the regional office also planted trees at communal area at Sitio Bagto Samoyao, Alapang, La Trinidad, Benguet.

 

Meanwhile, the PRO-Cor regional headquarters will be having a blood letting activity on February 21, 2012 at 8:00 AM at the Masigasig Grand Stand, Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet. (JDP JBZ PIA CAR).
