Lagawe MPOC taps barangay officials in managing traffic

LAGAWE, Ifugao, Feb. 23 (PIA) - - The Municipal Peace and Order Council of this town recently ordered barangay officials to assist in managing traffic for the safety of school children.

The order was made after the district supervisor of Lagawe disclosed that the Lagawe Central School (LCS) is conducting Saturday classes to meet the required numbers of school days in a year.

“We are concerned about the safety of children going to school. To prevent any untoward incident barangay officials must augment the police in managing traffic especially in the poblacion,” the council chaired by mayor Ceasario Cabbigat stated. The different barangay captains can utilize their “tanods” to help the police in managing the traffic particularly in the national highway fronting the LCS, it added.

Meanwhile, to solve also the traffic woes of the municipality particularly during markets days, the MPOC has requested the PNP to strengthen the implementation of the traffic code of the municipality.

It reiterated that cargo trucks and other vehicles should not park long on the national high way and should leave the area after loading and unloading their passengers and cargoes. * (MBL/PIA-Ifugao)
