BANGUED, ABRA - Series of activities in Abra is now lined-up in observance of the national consumer welfare month celebration for the month of October.
Provincial Caretaker of the Department of Trade and Industry - Abra Arell Bañez said activities include an intensive information education campaign on the various rights and privileges of the consumers which include among others, their right to procure quality products at reasonable prices, and that would likewise promote their health and safety.
While the national consumer welfare month is celebrated in October, the DTI-Abra had started the kick-off activities as early as September 29 with the interviews conducted by the local radio stations in Bangued.
Orientation seminars on the Intellectual Property Rights as well as the policies on the Small and medium Enterprises Development (SMEs) were conducted at the two campuses of the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology in Bangued and in Lagangilang on September 30 and October 2, 2008 attended by students of the said colleges.
DTI-Abra is likewise preparing the pupils and students for their participation in the regional competitions on October 29, 2008 on the Regional Quiz Bee and Poster Making Contest. The provincial quiz bee for high school students will be held on October 9, 2008 at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall, while the poster making contest for the elementary pupils will be undertaken at the DTI-Provincial Office on October 10, 2008.
An intensive information education campaign on standards enforcement will be conducted both through radio interviews and print as well as interpersonal communications as the DTI-Enforcement Team will be going around the provincial capital town.
Relative to this, DTI-Abra will be awarding the seal of excellence to two qualified establishments in Bangued, the Joymart along the national highway in in Brgy. Lipcan; and the Snooks Commercial along Torrijos St. in Zone 5, Bangued, Abra. (Maritess Beñas/PIA-Abra)
